Armed bandits have launched a wave of coordinated attacks across Zamfara State, leaving one person dead and scores abducted in Zurmi and Bungudu Local Government Areas, security sources confirmed late Monday.
The first attack occurred at 10:40 p.m. on Nov. 30, when gunmen stormed Tungar Tsamiya in Moriki District, killing one resident and abducting 10 others. Security forces immediately began a search-and-rescue operation.
Just hours later, on Monday morning, another armed group struck Doguwar Gona forest, also in Moriki District, abducting 17 men and women who had gone to fetch firewood. Security operatives are currently tracking the movement of the attackers.
In a third incident, gunmen wielding AK-47 rifles raided Makwa village in Kurar Mota District of Bungudu LGA at about 12:15 p.m. on Dec. 1, abducting an unconfirmed number of residents.
Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, police operatives, and local vigilante groups have intensified rescue efforts across the affected communities. Authorities say search operations are ongoing, and calm is being reinforced in the attacked areas.
