
Nigeria’s Super Falcons have emerged champions of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after defeating host nation Morocco 3–2 in a thrilling final at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.
Morocco took an early lead through Ghizlane Chebbak in the 12th minute and doubled their advantage when Sanaa Mssoudy scored in the 24th minute, leaving Nigeria trailing 2–0 at halftime.
Nigeria mounted a remarkable comeback in the second half. Esther Okoronkwo converted a penalty in the 64th minute to reduce the deficit, before Folashade Ijamilusi equalised in the 71st minute. Deborah Abiodun completed the turnaround in the 89th minute with a powerful strike that sealed the victory.
With the win, Nigeria secured their 10th WAFCON title, having previously won in 1984, 1991, 1995, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2018. The victory also guarantees Nigeria a place in the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
