As part of our statewide sensitization drive for the Enugu Tech Talent (ETT) Program, the Enugu SME Center visited Bishop Shanahan College of Medicine, Nsukka, to engage students in a powerful conversation about the future of digital skills in healthcare and beyond.

The reception was overwhelmingly positive. Despite coming from medical backgrounds, students showed deep curiosity and enthusiasm about how tech could complement their careers—from using artificial intelligence in diagnostics to applying data analytics in public health policy.

Chioma Uchechukwu, a 23-year-old medical student from Nsukka Urban, expressed her excitement after the session:

“Before today, I thought tech was just for coders. Now I know how important data analysis and AI are in modern medicine. I’m definitely applying. This could change my career path.”

Samuel Okeke, 24, from Obollo-Afor, Udenu LGA, added:

“No one had ever come to our school to speak about tech programs like this. Learning product management for free is an opportunity I never imagined. I’m grateful Enugu State is thinking about us.”

The sensitization session featured:

  • A walkthrough of the six high-demand tech courses available through the fully-funded ETT Program
  • First-hand guidance on the application process
  • Interactive Q&A on how the training fits with a tight academic schedule
  • Insights into job, internship, and startup pathways for non-tech professionals

The event aligns with Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s vision of a digitally inclusive Enugu, where all students—regardless of discipline—can gain access to global opportunities through technology.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the leadership and student union of Bishop Shanahan College of Medicine, Nsukka, for their collaboration and hospitality.

Stay tuned as we share more photos and updates from other sensitization stops including UNN, ESCET, School of Nursing, NYSC Secretariats, and faith-based centers like House on the Rock, amongst others.
