Thomas Hobbes in the Leviathan asserted that “in a state of nature, nothing is unlawful and nothing is unjust. Thus, life becomes nasty, brutish and short” .
For none philosophers, one of the principal underpinning element in Hobbessian thought is that “might is right”. Buhari appears to be using might to govern this country and not the constitution.
Nonetheless, the sovereign is created so that there may be “one will for all men…”
The treatment or punishment dished out to Orji Uzor Kalu is beginning to make me wonder if this country is govern under different laws.
I will find it hard to convince someone from a sane state that we have but only one constitution in this country; especially when the introduction reads thus “1. (1) This Constitution is supreme and its provisions shall have binding force on the authorities and persons throughout the Federal Republic of Nigeria.” .
However, the way the people of South East and by extension most Igbo tribe are being treated betrays the fact that this constitution is suppose to have binding force on all Nigerians.
A lot of Nigerians who do not understand the power play in this country always clap when government inflicts pain on her targeted prey under the guise of enforcing the law.
In one country, Kalu is accused of about 7 billion naira fraud and he is in prison. In the same country Akpabio committed over 100 billion Naira fraud and he is a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria moving smoothly.
In this same country Ahmed Bola Tinubu controls over 30 percent of the resources of a state and just in the concluded election, a money van was captured moving into his compound and heavily guarded by our security men. The only trial awaiting Tinubu is that they have vowed to make him the next president of Nigeria.
Unlike Orji Uzor Kalu, Ahmed Bola Tinubu has no single flourishing business, before he became the governor of Lagos State and still has no one till date .
Yet he distributed billions in the just concluded National Assembly Election and reportedly makes over 3 billion Naira monthly from the Lagos State IGR
I do not wish to mention people like Obasanjo so that I do not implicate Aliko Dangote who government have succeeded to enrich with corrupt policies that makes him enjoy embarrassing monopoly in the Nigerian Market.
Generally, its alleged that our politicians steal our collective wealth and invest same in Dangote Group PLC. Yet neither the politicians nor Dangote has single matter in court.
Going by the degree of obvious political harsh conditions facing the South East in Nigerian politics; one cannot but assume that people like Dangote wakes up every morning to thank God that he is not from the South Eastern Nigeria.
While people like Tinubu deeply believes that we are not a part of this country.
If it’s the law we invite to take full cause of action, then the justice cannot be channeled towards the South East; it will be for all corrupt public office holders within the Federation.
The argument of acquiring SLOK conglomerate is out of it because no government owned establishment is functional save the MD, DG and heads of the said establishments who only view their office as an avenue to combat personal poverty.
Nigeria across regional divide has three pilars; Tinubu, Dangote and Kalu.
Funny enough their degree of corruption follows same order. However, because Kalu is from the republican South East , they tried him and jailed him because of our personal belief that we are republican. Nobody cares.
Whoever is heading this government needs to go and have a chat with Jerry Rollins. We have a lot to learn from him.
It’s unacceptable to us that the more corrupt people are retained in the APC party with juicy positions.
If we have a binding constitution, let’s try all politicians in court of competent jurisdiction or with immediate effect release Orji Uzor Kalu.
This government needs serious orientation on good governance.
I stand with Orji Uzor Kalu!
