
Calm has returned to Oilmill Junction in Port Harcourt following a deadly clash that led to the death of a trader at the Fruit Market on Saturday morning.
The Rivers State Police Command confirmed that the incident happened around 7:00 a.m. after an argument between a trader from Benue State named Wenem and an Hausa wheelbarrow pusher over space to display goods.
According to police, the trader, was allegedly stabbed during the disagreement. He was rushed to a military hospital for treatment but was later confirmed dead by a doctor. His body has been deposited in a morgue for autopsy.
The incident caused tension between some Hausa and Benue community members in the area, leading to panic among traders and residents.
However, police operatives quickly intervened and restored normalcy.
The suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing.
