Chelsea FC have been fined £10.75 million after being found to have breached financial regulations during the ownership of former club owner Roman Abramovich.
The sanction was issued following an investigation into financial activities that occurred while Abramovich controlled the West London club. According to a report by The Athletic, the breaches were related to financial reporting practices linked to the club’s accounts during that period.
In addition to the financial penalty, the club has also been handed a nine-month ban on signing academy players. Authorities also imposed a one-year transfer ban on the club’s first team, although that punishment has been suspended for two years, meaning it will only take effect if further breaches occur within that period.
The ruling is part of wider efforts by the Premier League to enforce stricter financial compliance among clubs and ensure transparency in football finances.
Chelsea’s current ownership reportedly cooperated fully with investigators after discovering irregularities linked to the previous administration. The club has since implemented new financial controls to avoid future violations.
