As Nigerians mark Democracy Day, Chief Onyemelukwe Eusebius Zonyelu, a renowned financial expert from Igboukwu and Senatorial aspirant for the forthcoming Anambra South Senatorial by-election under the Action Peoples Party (APP), has extended heartfelt commendations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, for what he described as exemplary leadership.
In a Democracy Day message released by his media team, Chief Onyemelukwe praised the President for what he called “historic and healing” strides in the South East region, particularly his establishment of the Eastern Region Corporation, which he said aims to mend the wounds of the Nigerian civil war.
“This initiative should have been done right after the war, but we are grateful that President Tinubu has taken this bold step to foster unity and inclusion,” Onyemelukwe stated. “We also appreciate the federal government’s infrastructural projects across the South East—especially road construction—which are improving lives and restoring a sense of belonging.”
He offered prayers for the President, expressing optimism that Tinubu will successfully complete his first term projects and continue into a second term. “By God’s grace, we the people of the East will one day proudly join his son, Seyi Tinubu, in calling him the greatest president Nigeria has ever had,” he added.
On the state level, Chief Onyemelukwe showered praise on Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, describing him as “the Wonder Worker of Anambra”. He applauded the governor’s efforts in agriculture, education, and infrastructure, singling out the Ekwulobia flyover as the best in the state to date.
“During my senatorial consultations in Enugu-Agidi, an elderly resident told me the town wouldn’t have had a proper access road without Governor Soludo. This sentiment is echoed in many communities across the state,” he revealed.
In his concluding remarks, the senatorial hopeful urged all Nigerian leaders to reflect on the meaning of Democracy Day and uphold its core principles: free and fair elections, human rights, citizen participation, accountability, equality before the law, and governance based on the will of the people.
“Democracy brought all our leaders into office,” he said. “May they never forget the responsibilities that come with it.”
Chief Onyemelukwe concluded with prayers for long life for President Tinubu, Governor Soludo, and all Nigerians.
