Chimamanda Adichie to Headline 2025 ‘Things Fall Apart’ Festival in Enugu

Renowned Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is set to headline the 2025 edition of the Things Fall Apart Festivalin Enugu, a literary event dedicated to celebrating the legacy of iconic writer Chinua Achebe.

The Centre for Memories, organisers of the week-long festival, confirmed Adichie’s participation via an Instagram post on Tuesday. The event is scheduled to hold from June 29 to July 5, 2025, at the Centre’s facility in Enugu.

The organisers expressed excitement over Adichie’s involvement, describing her as “a globally celebrated novelist, feminist, and one of the most powerful literary voices of our time.” She will be joining the event following the global tour of her latest book, Dream Count.

Adichie will be delivering reflections on themes of storytelling, cultural identity, and historical memory, drawing connections with Achebe’s work. The festival theme for 2025 is Masculine, Feminine, Human: The Dialogue of Complements in Things Fall Apart.

A variety of activities are planned for the festival, including stage plays, tech-driven storytelling sessions, art exhibitions, film screenings, memory walks, youth programmes, and an immersive experience of a recreated Umuofia village, inspired by Achebe’s Things Fall Apart.

Other highlights include an essay competition and intimate salon-style conversations throughout the week.

The festival aims to continue promoting African literature, heritage, and cultural identity through the lens of Achebe’s contributions and the voices of contemporary storytellers like Adichie.
