COVID-19: Governor David Umahi Suspended 5 Special Assistants

The Ebonyi state Government has said it has noted with sadness that 99% of taders including buyers in Margret Umahi International market located along Ogoja high way in Abakaliki the Ebonyi state do not observe COVID-19 protocols

The state Governor David Umahi made this known in a statement signed by the Ebonyi state Secretary to the State Government and Coordinating Commissioner Hon. Kenneth Ugbala

Umahi said he noticed this during his afternoon inspection at the market. Adding that the five Special Assistants to Governor on markets were seen at the site

Akelicious News report that Umahi said he has therefore suspended the 5 Special Assistants on markets indefinitely and asked them to hand over their official vehicles immediately to the Secretary to the state government and coordinating Commissioner Hon. Kenneth Ugbala

Umahi directed Ubgala to post Senior Technical Assistants and Technical Assistants back to the Market to take charge of the location while Secretary to the state government supervises them henceforth

Umahi warned that he will get the Market shutdown if they continue to violate NCDC protocol on Covid 19.

The statement reads in parts “His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Ebonyi state, has noted with sadness, during his afternoon inspection at the Margret Umahi Int’l Market Abakaliki, that 99% of the market people do not wear nose masks and the five Special Assistants to the Governor on Markets were not seen on site.”

“The Governor has therefore placed the 5 Special Assistants on market on indefinite suspension effective from Wednesday 15tg of July, 2020. They are yo hand over their official vehicles immediately to the Secretary to the State Govt. and coordinating Commissioner.”
“The secretary to the state Govt. is hereby directed to post STAs and TAs back to the Margret Umahi Int’l Market Abakaliki to immediately take charge of the location while the SSG supervises them henceforth.”
“His Excellency the Governor hereby warns that he will get that he will get the Market shutdown if they continue to violate NCDC protocol on Covid 19.”
