Samuel Anyanwu, the National Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), recently expelled by a faction of the party, has dismissed the party’s recent national convention as an illegitimate gathering lacking due process.
Speaking during an interview, Anyanwu criticised the exercise just hours after he and several other party leaders were formally expelled.
The PDP held its national convention on Saturday, culminating in the emergence of former Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Turaki, as the new National Chairman.
Responding to the development, Anyanwu argued that the convention was fundamentally flawed, insisting that “16 states had not even done their congresses; the entire South-East has not done their congress, suggesting that all that happened on Saturday was a jamboree. Even the ones done earlier have not been communicated to INEC.”
