CSOs Urge INEC to Deploy Credible Officials for Anambra Governorship Election

INEC

Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) have urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the deployment of competent and credible officials for the November 8 Anambra governorship election.

The call was made during INEC’s quarterly meeting with CSOs in Abuja.

Executive Director of Peering Advocacy and Advancement Centre in Africa, Ezenwa Nwagwu, said the credibility of the election depends on the quality of Resident Electoral Commissioners and Electoral Officers assigned to the state.

He also commended INEC’s continued use of technology and pledged CSOs’ support to the Commission under the leadership of Acting Chairman, May Agbamuche-Mbu.

In response, Agbamuche-Mbu confirmed that all non-sensitive materials have been delivered to Anambra, and voter education is ongoing. She also expressed satisfaction with the public’s response to the Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
