Popular Nigerian dancer, Janemena, has joined the call for the release of Miss Comfort, the Ibom Air passenger whose altercation with the airline went viral. In a lengthy Instagram post, Janemena condemned the airline for allegedly stripping the passenger naked and sharing the video online, saying the act shifted public attention away from the passenger’s conduct to the airline’s “shameful” treatment.
Sharing her own unpleasant encounter with airline staff, Janemena narrated how, while four months pregnant, she was forced to disembark from a Fly United Nigeria flight despite having a valid “fit to fly” medical clearance on her phone.
According to her, a flight attendant insisted the clearance must be printed on paper and dated the exact day of her travel, contrary to standard airline protocol which allows a 72-hour validity period. Janemena said her pleas to have the document printed via email were ignored, and she was eventually removed from the flight by the pilot.
She described airline attendants as sometimes pushing passengers to “the concrete wall,” after which their reactions are recorded and publicised, damaging their reputation.
The dancer ended her post with the hashtags #FreeComfortEmmason and #FvckYouIbomAirline, calling on Ibom Air to free the detained passenger and allow her to defend herself.
