Port Harcourt-based cleric David Ibiyeomie has sparked widespread reactions following a controversial statement urging Christians in Nigeria to be more vigilant about their safety amid ongoing security concerns.
Speaking during a sermon, the founder of Salvation Ministries condemned the continued killing of Christians in parts of the country, calling on believers to “wake up” and become more conscious of their security.
Drawing a comparison with Israel, the pastor noted that despite being a small nation, it has been able to defend itself against threats, suggesting that Nigerians should adopt a similar mindset.
He further stated that if the government fails to adequately protect citizens, individuals should be prepared to defend themselves, adding that people should at least carry a “walking stick” for protection.
