Delta community youths issues Okowa, others 14-day ultimatum to fish out cleric’s killers

Rising from an emergency meeting, youths from Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State today issued Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, the relevant security agencies and the leadership of Aladja community in Udu Local Government Area fourteen days ultimatum to as a matter of urgency fish out the killers of Pastor Sylvester Yeribide for peace to reign between the two communities.

The youths who were led by Comrade Etimadimene said they will avenge the death of the cleric if nothing is done about the matter.

“We have been pushed to the walls. Henceforth, the youths of Ogbe-Ijoh cannot fold their hands and watch.

” Therefore, we the entire youths of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom are giving the State Government, all security agencies and the leadership of Aladja community 14 days ultimatum starting from 6th November, 2021 to provide the killers of Pastor Sylvester Yerinbide or else, we shall avenge his death.”

The Ogbe-Ijoh youths said Governor Okowa should hold Aladja community responsible for breaching the peace accord signed by the two communities last year.

They expressed displeasure over the lackadaisical pattern Governor Okowa is handling the Ogbe-Ijoh/Aladja communal crisis over the years.

While noting their total commitment and respect to the peace accord, the youths said they have been victims of series of attacks as well as killing by Aladja community.

The Ogbe-Ijoh youths recalled one Tailor Ogofugha was murdered in front of his house at Ogbe-Ijoh community alegedly by Aladja youths last year.

They stressed that Pastor Sylvester Yerinbide was tortured to death on the 29th of October on his way to an all night service.

The Ogbe-Ijoh youths noted that they did not retaliate because of the peace accord they entered into with their neighbours.
