Delta SEMA Gives Relief Materials To Rainstorm Victims


Delta State Government, through its Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), has given succour to over 65 victims of rainstorm disaster in Alifekede community, Ika-South Local Government Area

It would be recalled that in April 2018, rainstorm had ravaged the community with the market hardest hit, affected residential apartments and prompted Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to identify with the plight of the people.

Addressing beneficiaries of the government’s intervention package, Okowa who was represented by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barr Chiedu Ebie, said that effort was being made by the Okowa administration to support disaster victims across the state.

While urging them to utilize the stipends wisely, Okowa charged Deltans to exercise caution during adverse weather conditions, even as he expressed sympathy to those affected in the recent floods.

Meanwhile, the member representing the community in the state House of Assembly, Festus Okoh, has urged the people to remain steadfast and support the state government, noting that Okowa remained committed to fulfilling all his promises.

Earlier in his address, the chairman of Ika-South Local Government Area, Barr Victor Okoh, commended the prompt response of the state government, even as he reaffirmed the allegiance of the people to Okowa towards building a stronger Delta.

Accordingly, the Director of SEMA, Mr. Karo Ovemeso, thanked the Governor for his empathizing with the people, adding that upon unfortunate incident, the government swung into action and Okowa approved relief items to victims.
