The Delta State government has put measures in place to mitigate the devastating impact of flood on residents living in Warri and its environs.
One of such measures undertaken by the Delta State government is the construction of Storm drainages to channel flood waters to natural water reservoir surrounding the city.
Director General of the Warri/Uwvie Environmental Agency, Ovuozourie Macaulay told ait.live that project was necessitated by the perennial flooding of the oil city and prediction of a longer period of rainfall by the Nigeria hydrological services agency.
Meanwhile, the project according to some residents, is a step in the right direction.
Solomon Odafe, like others expressed optimism that by the time the construction project is completed, flooding in Warri will be a thing of the past.
They also commended the state government for embarking on construction of storm drainages to address the issue of flooding in Warri and its environs.
