
As Nigerians commemorate Democracy Day, the Mayor of Awka North Local Government Area, Hon. ThankGod Chibuike Anago, has extended warm congratulations to the people of Awka North and joined the rest of the nation in celebrating this important occasion.
In his Democracy Day message, Mayor Anago described June 12 as a landmark date in Nigeria’s history—one that continues to serve as a powerful reminder of the nation’s struggle for unity, freedom, and democratic governance.
“June 12 has remained a very important and significant day in the history of our nation, as it provides us with the opportunity to reflect on our life as a people and the unity of our nation,” Anago stated.
He noted that the 2025 celebration should not only be a time for festivity but also a moment of sober reflection and renewed commitment to the development of Awka North and the nation at large.
“This year’s celebration calls for a sober reflection and recommitment to the progress, unity, and development of Awka North LGA and her people,” he said.
Mayor Anago called on residents of Awka North to embrace patriotic and community-driven initiatives that can foster positive change and sustainable development across the council area.
“We must, as Ndi Awka North, seek ways to improve our council area through patriotic and robust actions and engagements, as such remain our only means of attaining the greatness we all desire,” he urged.
Concluding his address with a message of hope and solidarity, the Mayor wished all citizens a peaceful and meaningful Democracy Day celebration.
“Happy Democracy Day!” he declared.
