Seriake Dickson, Bayelsa State governor, would today lead other notable Nigerians to embark on inaugural flight into the Bayelsa International Airport.
The airport, whose construction started in 2012, is located near the university town of Amassoma in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state.
A statement on Wednesday by Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, said that Dickson would fly into the airport in a Boeing 737 aircraft operated by Air Peace Airlines.
It stated that the aircraft would take off from the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, and touch down on the 3.5km-runway of the airport at 1pm today.
It said the inaugural flight coincides with the 7th anniversary of the Dickson administration.
It described the first flight event as “a watershed in the developmental trajectory of the state.”
