Former Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson, has called on Nigerians to join the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), assuring that the party will live up to public expectations amid growing interest nationwide.
In a statement, Dickson expressed appreciation for the confidence Nigerians have shown in the party since its launch, noting that many citizens have been making enquiries about how to connect with party officials across states and zones.
To enhance accessibility, he announced the release of names and contact details of key party officials, including State Chairmen and National Vice Chairmen, to facilitate communication and grassroots coordination.
He also urged Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing online registration process, stressing that membership enrollment is crucial ahead of submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to him, aspiring candidates must ensure they and their supporters are registered members of the party, as Nigeria’s electoral law now mandates direct primaries, allowing only registered party members to vote during candidate selection.
Dickson further disclosed that party congresses are set to commence later this month, culminating in a National Convention scheduled for the first week of May, with INEC already notified to monitor the activities.
Reiterating the party’s vision, he described the NDC as a pan-Nigerian platform open to all citizens dissatisfied with the current political system. He emphasized that Nigerians are constitutionally free to leave any political party and join another without intimidation.
The former governor also extended an invitation to youths and women, assuring them of a prominent place in the party’s structure, while calling for a new political culture rooted in unity, integrity, and service.
He urged party members and supporters to embrace issue-based politics and shun violence, noting that the NDC is committed to promoting ideas, vision, and responsible leadership.
“Nigeria is a democracy, and every citizen has the right to belong to any political party of their choice,” he stated.
Dickson concluded by reaffirming the party’s position as a leading opposition force, encouraging Nigerians to join what he described as a movement for national transformation.
