US President Donald Trump has publicly slammed the 68th Annual Grammy Awards and threatened legal action against host Trevor Noah following a controversial joke he made about him during the broadcast.
In a post on Truth Social shortly after the Grammys concluded, Trump described the awards show as “virtually unwatchable” . He also slammed Noah, labeling him “a total loser” and accusing him of making false statements during his on-air monologue.
The backlash stems from a joke made by Noah while presenting at the ceremony. After announcing the Song of the Year winner, Noah quipped that the award was coveted by artists “almost as much as Trump wants Greenland,” adding, “since Epstein’s gone, he needs a new island to hang out with Bill Clinton.” The punchline referred to former financier Jeffrey Epstein and his privately owned Caribbean island, where women were s£xually abused.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “The Grammy Awards are the WORST, virtually unwatchable!” He said that CBS was fortunate to no longer have such “garbage” on its airwaves. Taking a swipe at Noah, he said that the host was “as bad as Jimmy Kimmel at the low ratings Academy Awards.”
Reacting to his Epstein Island joke, he added, “Noah said, INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. WRONG!!! I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight’s false and defamatory statement, have never been accused of being there, not even by the Fake News Media.”
