Don’t Concentrate only on Engineering design, participate in Government Policies- Engr. Johncee

ASABA- A Fellow of Nigerian Society of Engineers, and Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, Engr. John Cee Onwualu has urged Engineers in the State and Nigeria in general to be active, don’t only be glued to their Engineering designs but also participate fully in Government Policies and Programs.

Engr. John Cee Onwualu who doubled as the Consultant to Delta State Government on Civil Engineering matters made this assertion recently on Saturday during the inauguration, Awards ceremony and Galanite of the new Executives of Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) at Orchid Hotel, DBS Road, Asaba, Delta State Capital.

Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) is a sub-division of Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) is Committed to the advancement of knowledge and skill in Civil Engineering construction as a branch of Engineering Profession.

He Commended those who emerged as new Executives of the group and admonished them and the entire Engineers in the state to be committed to their jobs, and noted that the division, NICE is the mother of all Engineering Profession, while stating that the earth exists because of the Civil Engineers.

Speaking further, the World-class Engineer therefore enjoined Engineers to emulate other Professionals in their entire lifestyle by ensuring relaxation, entertainments and others and not only concentration on Engineering design, but also strict application of Cultural, socio-political context in the Profession.

According to him, the idea will ensure that those in Engineering Profession are given their dues in the Government or policies making and programs of the Government in the society without being exchanged by those who are not Professionals in the field.

He then Commended the immediate past Chairman of NICE, Engr Onichabor Alex Ifeanyi, FNICE, MNSE, and Chairman AGM Planning Committee Chairman, Engr. Lofty Onyemali FNICE, MNSE, and all those who graced the occasion for their benevolence, and thanked Specially the Guest lecturer in that occasion, who is a Lecturer I’m the Department of Civil Engineering, Delta State University, Abraka, Oleh Campus, Engr. Ifesinachi, FNSE, FNICE for dwelling Excellently on the theme: “Smart Monitoring, Assessment and Rehabilitation of Civil Infrastructure”.

He also thanked Delta State Honourable Commissioner for Works, Engr. Chief James Ojadovba Augoye as Guest of Honour, Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Engr. Lawrence Ejiofor the Immediate past Chairman of NSE, Asaba Branch, Engr. Bemigho Ofoeyeno FNSE, FNICE, the present Chairman, Nigerian Society of Civil Engineers ( NSE), Engr. J. E. Akatugba.

To this end, the dignitaries that graced the occasion which he Commended as well included amongst others are: The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Engr. Fred Edafioghor, FNSE, FNICE, the Director Highways, Engr. Joshua Egube, FNSE, FNICE, all Directors of Ministry of Works, Asaba, all Deputy Directors and Engineers as well as contractors to mention but a few.

He also commended the outcome Executives of the Institution on their exploits and Fellows of the Institute on their supports that has made Civil Engineers to take their rightful place in the society as well as Delta State Government for keeping to their promises on stronger Delta Agenda towards Substainable economic development.
