Suspected kidnappers involved in the abduction of medical doctor, Dr. Ibrahim Tahir, and the killing of his younger brother have been arrested following an unexpected turn of events at a hospital in Edo State.
The suspects were apprehended after they reportedly brought their sick child to the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) of the same hospital where Dr. Tahir works. At the time, the doctor was said to be at the facility for wound dressing when he allegedly recognised the individuals as members of the gang that kidnapped him.
Upon the identification, security operatives were immediately alerted, leading to the arrest of the suspects at the hospital premises.
Dr. Tahir was abducted alongside his younger brother on January 2, 2025, from their residence in Auchi, Edo State. It was gathered that the family paid a ransom of ₦50 million to secure the doctor’s release. However, his younger brother was later found dead, allegedly killed by the abductors despite the payment.
