The Ebonyi State Government has flagged off the Community and Social Development programme (EBCSDP) a World Bank assisted micro projects in the state.
The project is aimed at sensitizing the most vulnerable groups, victims of gender-based violence and displaced persons to mitigate the trauma the affected persons had undergone through, among others
The State Governor, represented by Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala, during the launch, maintained that this year’s Evaluation Study Report on Community and Social Development Projects would assist policymakers, development partners and concerned Ministry, Department and Agencies in evaluating and designing programmes as well as strategies for improving health, education, housing and other social economic needs to the targeted beneficiaries in the state.
He commended the Acting General Manager Ebonyi State CSDA for piloting the Agency with remarkable achievements alongside his team, and also for providing the enabling environment for our people from the rural areas to benefit from the project, stressing that it had added more dynamism to the efforts of State Government in the area of infrastructural development in the state.
“I believe this medium will create an ambient moment for every participant to organize questions which will be based on what the community development programmer has done so far”, said the Governor.
He further emphasized on the readiness of the State Government to identify with the vision of Community and Social Development Agency for the provision of basic amenities in the development of the State and charged the partners to take the message to the hinterland.
Dr. Ugbala said that the agency has done well as it has been able to reach different communities with 521 projects cutting across different age groups in Ebonyi State.
In his remarks, the acting General Manager, Ebonyi State Community and Social Development Agency, Mr. James Iroh, said that they were making tremendous efforts as the communities and groups project managers report to the agency the progress of the projects sited in their various communities and assured their readiness to support the state government in his developmental plans, stressing that the outcome of the evaluation report will be submitted to the national body.
Others who spoke during the event included the Board Chairman, EBCSDA, Barr. Onyekachi Nwebonyi, who maintained that Umahi’s government has been the bedrock for the overall performance of the agency in executing the World Bank Assisted project, CSDP.
The occasion was marked by goodwill messages from Hon Barr. Uchenna Orji, represented by Permanent Secretary, Human Capital Development, Barr Oko Agwu and the Ebonyi PDP Youth Leader, Elder Sam Igwe.
