The Daura Emirate Council on Monday, announced the suspension of the Durbar and other activities to mark the end of this year’s Ramadan.
The council attributed the decision to “the current mood of the state.”
The Sarkin Labarun for the Emirate, Usman Ibrahim, confirmed the development to journalists in Daura.
He clarified that the Eid prayers to mark the end of the Ramadan would hold.
He said, “The Daura Emirate council has suspended the Sallah Durbar in view of the current mood of the state. His Royal Highness, the Emir of Daura, has directed the suspension of this year’s Durbar .The Eid prayers would however hold.
“His Royal Highness has however urged all Daura residents to seize the opportunity provided by the Eid prayers to offer special prayers for the the Magajin-Garin Daura, Alhaji Musa Umar who is still in the captivity of his abductors. We should pray that he regains his freedom very soon.’
“The Emirate council wishes all Muslims a happy Sallah.”
It would be recalled that the Katsina Emirate council, last Friday, suspended the staging of Durbar during the activities marking the end of the Ramadan in Katsina.
