Former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El‑Rufai has returned to the Federal High Court in Kaduna for the continuation of his legal proceedings following the burial of his late mother, Hajiya Umma El‑Rufai.
El‑Rufai’s appearance on Tuesday comes as a bail application hearing is set to be heard in the corruption case brought against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The former governor had been temporarily released from custody to attend his mother’s funeral prayer and burial in Abuja, which was attended by top political figures and dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima who paid him a condolence visit.
The charges El‑Rufai faces relate to alleged abuse of office, fraud and money laundering during his tenure as governor. The court matter continues as his legal team seeks bail.
