The Mega National Movement for Good Governance (MNMGG) has said the prosecution of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, is a constitutional matter that should not be politicised, insisting it is about accountability and public trust.
Speaking while addressing journalists during a protest in Abuja on Monday, MNMGG spokesperson, Comrade Muhammad Abdullahi, said the issue remains strictly between the former Governor and the Kaduna State Government, noting that the 2024 report of the Kaduna State House of Assembly Ad-Hoc Committee had raised concerns over financial management, debt profile and contract procedures under the previous administration.
He added that some former appointees, including Jafaru Sani, Jimmy Lawal, Bashir Saidu and Samuel Aruwa, were already undergoing investigation, urging anti-graft agencies such as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission to continue their probes transparently.
Abdullahi stressed that the matter was not persecution but prosecution grounded in law, adding that the court remained the proper venue for vindication.
Responding to the concerns, the spokesperson of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Dele Oyewale, said the commission would carry out its duties professionally and would address all the issues raised in the letter submitted to the agency.
