The Guild of Public Affairs Analysts of Nigeria (GPAAN), has lauded the infrastructural strides of the Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah-led administration in Enugu State, describing them as “visionary, bold, and transformational” following a comprehensive tour of key projects between June 16 and 18, 2025.

Addressing a press conference in Enugu on June 21, GPAAN Enugu Chapter Chairman, Dr. Ambrose Igboke said the tour was conducted to independently verify and assess the scale and quality of ongoing development efforts.

“What we have seen in the past three days is not just construction work. It is a deliberate, well-thought-out blueprint aimed at repositioning Enugu for global relevance,” Igboke declared.

He emphasized that GPAAN’s role is not to praise but to hold government accountable. “We are not here as cheerleaders of government. Our job is to hold the government accountable, commend when due, and make recommendations where necessary. But it is important that we speak the truth: Enugu is undergoing a quiet revolution.”

Highlighting the New Enugu City project, Dr. Igboke called it “one of the most ambitious and forward-looking projects in the Southeast,” noting its potential to create jobs, boost GDP, and drive economic transformation beyond mere urban development.

The analysts visited the GTC-TVET vocational institute, NOTRA-Enugu Tractor Assembly Plant, Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, modern transport terminals, International Conference Center, Presidential Hotel, the Command and Control Center, among others.

At GTC-TVET, Igboke said: “This is how you prepare a generation for global competition. From primary school to JSS3, children will learn skills in ICT, electronics, and hospitality. That’s a generational investment.”

On the tractor assembly plant, he stated, “Agriculture is being redefined in Enugu. With 200 tractors already delivered and plans for 800 more, this is sustainable mechanised farming—crucial for food security and export.”

GPAAN praised the expansion at Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, funded through internal revenue. “This is fiscal discipline in action,” Igboke said, commending the twin six-storey buildings, new ambulances, and modern triage units.

The analysts described the Command and Control Centre as a model of smart security. “The AI-enabled thermal cameras and real-time vehicle tracking systems rival what you find in the most advanced cities. It’s no exaggeration to say Enugu is becoming Nigeria’s smart security capital after Lagos.”

The International Conference Center and the Presidential Hotel also drew praise. “We saw workers on site and according to the project manager, they work 24 hours a day at the Presidential Hotel. The NBA conference coming in August will return this iconic hotel to its rightful place. Enugu will be ready.”

On the international specialist hospital, Igboke remarked: “The oxygen plants, smart lifts, and the six-storey complex are designed to deliver care that would ordinarily require travel abroad.”

Other highlights included the Enugu Asphalt Plant, a bio-fenced pilot farm in Akpawfu, and a newly built bridge in Nkanu East replacing a colonial-era structure. “This bridge, funded in partnership with the local government, is a model of what LGAs can do with vision and support,” Igboke said.

He urged the state to intensify public awareness efforts. “These projects are too impactful to be hidden. The people need to know what their government is doing. This transparency will build trust and inspire civic engagement.”

Concluding, Igboke stressed, “Governor Mbah is not just building roads and schools; he is building the future. Enugu is on a new trajectory—and what we’ve seen gives us hope that this transformation is real, intentional, and enduring.”
