Everything Stopped After He Joined APC — Okwuora Slams Enugu Governor

Okwuora and Peter Mbah

Prominent activist and social commentator, Okwuora, has raised alarm over what he described as the worsening economic and security situation in Enugu State, declaring that the government has “abandoned the poor masses” and allowed hardship to take root.

In a passionate statement released on Thursday, Okwuora reminded the public of an earlier pledge he made when the current administration took office, vowing to take responsibility if the governor failed to deliver on promises made to the people.

I made an appeal and I own it. I said if the Governor of Enugu State fails the poor masses, I should be held responsible. I am speaking up because of that statement I made,” he said.

Okwuora lamented that residents of Enugu are “in pain and crying uncontrollably,” insisting that things have deteriorated under the present administration. He accused the government of imposing “unnecessary taxes”, ignoring rising insecurity, and presiding over a wave of kidnappings, shootings, and hardship across the state.

He further alleged that critical voices have been silenced as “many social media platforms in Enugu appear to have been bought over,” leaving citizens without a voice to express their frustration.

The people are priority. Things are not going well in Enugu State now. If I don’t talk, then I am not of good,” he declared.

While acknowledging that the governor started his tenure on a promising note, Okwuora claimed that things took a negative turn after his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor started so well and was one of the best, but since he joined APC, everything stopped. No work is going on. I doubt if he is still living in Enugu now. Truth we are all scared of saying,” he said.

He expressed concern that the once vibrant state is now “frail and fading,” urging the government to prioritize the welfare of citizens and restore public confidence.

Enugu is no longer moving. The hope is gradually fading away,” Okwuora lamented.
