FAAN Shuts Down MMIA Terminal 3 Temporarily Over Electrical Incident

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has diverted flights from the Temporary Terminal (T3) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos State due to an electrical spark in an operational office, which resulted in smoke emission.

In a Wednesday statement posted on its official X handle, FAAN disclosed it has directed flight operations at Terminal 3 to be diverted to Terminal 2, adding that electrical maintenance is ongoing to ensure optimal functions are in place.

The statement reads, “The Temporary Terminal (T3) of MMIA was briefly shut down following an electrical spark in an operational office, which resulted in smoke emission at about 14:05 hours.

“Electrical maintenance is currently ongoing to ensure that all electrical systems are functioning optimally ahead of the Terminal’s reopening.”

The statement added, “All flights that currently operate from Terminal 3 have been diverted to Terminal 2, passengers are hereby advised accordingly.”
