Fani-Kayode Urges Matawalle to Ignore Critics, Continue Fight Against Terrorism

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has described the media campaign against the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, as “shameless and nauseating,” praising his loyalty and efforts in the fight against terrorism.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Fani-Kayode highlighted Matawalle’s collaboration with National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu, saying it has led to the killing of more terrorists in the last two years than in the previous eight years combined. He noted that the duo’s achievements have not been adequately publicised.

“Now that General Christopher Musa, who was an extremely efficient Chief of Defence Staff, has been appointed Minister of Defence, I have no doubt that the combination of him, Ribadu, and Matawalle, together with the other new Service Chiefs, will make an even greater difference,” Fani-Kayode said.

He urged Matawalle to remain focused and continue his work despite attempts to discredit him. “I urge my friend and brother Matawalle to ignore the ‘bad belle’ distractions,” he said, adding that he and many others have confidence in the minister’s leadership.

Fani-Kayode described Matawalle as a “ruthless and courageous fighter who does not take prisoners in a fight or show the enemy any mercy,” qualities that have strengthened their friendship over the last 15 years.

He concluded by urging Matawalle to “keep up the good fight, do our nation proud, and give the enemies and troublers of our nation hell,” adding, “We are with you, my brother, and more importantly, God is behind you.”
