The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed reports alleging an assassination attempt on Justice James Omotosho, the judge who recently convicted and sentenced Nnamdi Kanu.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the court’s Chief Registrar, Suleiman Hassan, said the report published by an online blog was “completely false and unfounded.” He described it as “fake news” deliberately designed to mislead the public and undermine trust in the judiciary.
“The public is advised to treat this publication as fake news and refrain from further dissemination to prevent the spread of misinformation,” the statement read.
Justice Omotosho on Thursday, November 20, found Kanu guilty of terrorism-related offences and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
