FG Disburses N29.2bn BHCPF Allocation to States, FCT for 2025 Healthcare Delivery

The Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has released a total of ₦29,284,145,353.78 as the first and second quarter allocation of the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) for 2025.

The disbursement was made to all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to strengthen primary healthcare and expand access to essential health services for Nigerians.

According to the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, beneficiaries of the fund include vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, children, and citizens requiring primary or emergency care.


Citizens are advised to contact their State Social Health Insurance Authority (SSHIA) to determine eligibility and obtain a HUWE card. Enrollment requires visiting a designated primary healthcare centre with a valid ID card and a passport photograph.

The BHCPF is a statutory fund established under the National Health Act 2014, with at least one percent of the Consolidated Revenue Fund allocated annually to finance essential health services, especially at the primary healthcare level.

Health experts say this latest release will help scale up the reach of basic healthcare services nationwide if judiciously utilized by the states.
