A fire outbreak on Wednesday gutted a house used for selling foams along Asa-Dam Road in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, causing panic among residents as the flames spread rapidly to nearby buildings.

A video obtained by SaharaReporters shows fire raging from behind the affected building and extending towards adjoining structures, with thick smoke filling the area.

In the footage, a distressed man could be heard urgently calling on residents to alert the fire service, warning that the fire was moving fast and posing serious danger to lives and property.

“Help us call the fire service to come. One house has been completely burnt by fire. There are people there and many houses around,” the man cried.

He further raised the alarm over the presence of a filling station close to the scene, warning that the situation could escalate if urgent action was not taken.

There is a filling station beside where the fire is burning. Please, help us call the fire service,” he added.

According to voices heard in the video, the building on fire was used for selling foams, a highly flammable material, which may have worsened the intensity of the blaze.

As the fire spread, residents of a neighbouring house were seen hurriedly packing their belongings and moving them to safety, fearing that their homes would be consumed by the flames.

As of the time of filing this report, it remained unclear what caused the fire or whether firefighters arrived in time to contain it. There were also no immediate reports of casualties.
