The Managing Director of Laralek Ultimate Construction Company, Olalekan Adebiyi, on Saturday, debunked media reports on the purported leakage of the roof at the white house section of the National Assembly during Friday’s downpour.
An online platform had, in the early hours of Saturday, reported that the storm made a ‘mincemeat’ of the renovation work carried out by one of the subsidiaries of Laralek (Visible Construction Company) on the roofs and other areas of the legislative complex between 2022 and 2024.
The medium also reported that some staff of the National Assembly had lamented that had the N38bn renovation work been awarded to Julius Berger, there probably wouldn’t be a complaint of roof leakages during downpours.
They also alleged that the Federal Capital Development Authority, which awarded the contract to Visible Construction Company must have compromised for the firm to have executed such a shoddy job.
A few hours after the publication, Adebiyi, in a telephone conversation with journalists covering the National Assembly, claimed the report was fake.
