For the first time in his political career, former lawmaker and prominent Oyo politician, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola, popularly known as Alleluyah, has officially resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Agboola made the announcement in a letter addressed to the party’s leadership on Friday, October 10, 2025, marking a significant political development in Oyo State’s landscape.

In the letter, the former senator expressed his gratitude to the PDP for the opportunities he had enjoyed during his time with the party, both as a member and as a leader at state and national levels.

I, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola, a member of the People’s Democratic Party and a leader at both the state and national levels, sincerely appreciate the party for the opportunities given to me to serve as a member and leader, as well as for the achievements recorded during my time in the party,” the letter read in part.

Agboola further explained that his decision to leave the PDP was influenced by his “future political pursuits,” which he deemed necessary at this time.

However, you would observe that I did not participate in the recent congresses both at the local and state levels due to my future political pursuits, which I consider necessary at this time,” he stated.

He concluded by officially tendering his resignation from the PDP, effective October 10, 2025, while wishing the party success in its future activities.

Senator Agboola, a well-known political figure in Oyo State, once served as the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate and has been a major stakeholder in the PDP since its inception. His exit is expected to reshape political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
