Fresh Terror Attack Hits Taraba After Warning, Dozens Killed, Over 90,000 Displaced

Terror Attack Hits Taraba

A fresh terrorist attack has been carried out on St. James the Great Catholic Church in Adu, Takum LGA, just days after a March 19 security alert warned of imminent coordinated assaults in Taraba and Southern Kaduna.

The attack confirms the earlier intelligence, which flagged the Chenchenji–Yelwa axis and predicted an assault around March 23. Events on the ground show that warning has now materialized.

The destruction at the church is extensive, with windows smashed, parish buildings vandalized, and the priest’s residence damaged, consistent with a coordinated strike.

This latest assault adds to a worsening humanitarian crisis already documented by the Catholic Diocese of Wukari and Aid to the Church in Need, which confirm that over 90,000 people have been displaced and dozens killed across southern Taraba since late 2025.

The earlier alert also referenced a recent attack in Tor-Damisa where five people were killed, further exposing the scale and pattern of ongoing violence.

Communities in Takum LGA are now under sustained assault, with clear indications of coordinated and premeditated attacks.
