Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has sparked debate after commenting on the activities of Fulani bandits in Nigeria.
In a statement, Sheikh Gumi argued that while Fulani bandits engage in kidnappings for ransom, they should not be equated with terrorist groups such as IPOB, which he said are responsible for killing soldiers and police officers.
“The Fulani bandits only kidnap children to collect ransom money. They are not terrorists like IPOB who unalive soldiers and police. Let’s all be fair to them,” he said.
