Funeral procession starts in Tehran for Iranian commanders, officials killed by Israel

Iran is now hosting a mass state funeral for about 60 people, including military commanders and nuclear scientists, killed in the 12-day war with Israel.

“The ceremony to honour the martyrs has officially started,” Iranian state TV reported a short while ago, accompanied by footage of people donning black clothes and waving Iranian flags.

A ceremony is due to take place in Tehran’s Enghelab Square, followed by a funeral procession to Azadi Square.

Iranian state media has also released the photos showing the coffins of senior military commanders and officials killed in Israel’s air attacks, according to outlet Iran International.

Among the slain commanders featured on the coffins are Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Bagheri, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps chief commander Hossein Salami, and Aerospace Force commander Amir-Ali Hajizadeh.
