Governor Muftwang to Defect From PDP to APC Citing Political Stability

Governor Muftwang

Governor Caleb Muftwang of Plateau State is set to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), his political adviser, Istifanus Nwansat, confirmed on Monday in Abuja.

Mr Nwansat stated that the governor’s decision was motivated by the current turmoil within the PDP, making the party a less viable platform for political engagement. He explained that joining the APC represents the option with the least political risk and aligns with the governance and political agenda of President Bola Tinubu on the Plateau.

Highlighting the challenges within the PDP, Mr Nwansat said, “From the assessment and analysis of all available options, we concluded that the safest course for us today, with the least risk, is to move into the APC.” He added that Governor Muftwang also sees it as a strategic move to lead his supporters toward alignment with the president’s initiatives, acknowledging President Tinubu’s efforts to improve governance.

The adviser emphasized that the defection is both a practical and strategic decision, reflecting the governor’s commitment to stability and effective political engagement for Plateau State.

This move marks a significant shift in Plateau politics, as the governor positions himself and his supporters within the ruling party ahead of upcoming political contests.
