The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had launched the Eastern Security Network (ESN) recently, after he displayed a Video of them in training. Nnamdi Kanu claims that the ESN was launched to protect the Southeastern part of Nigeria from criminals and attacks. The eastern governors have however rejected Nnamdi Kanu’s ESN in the South-Eastern region.
Nnamdi Kanu had earlier compared ESN to Amotekun security outfit in the Southwest and Miyetti Allah in the North.
Addressing the rejection by the Eastern governors in a statement on Sunday, IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, described the governors’ action as “shameful”.
This statement from the IPOB group comes after the Chairman of the South-East Governors, Dave Umahi, issued a statement where he distanced the government and people of the area from the IPOB security arrangement.
The group described Umahi’s statement saying “Such a cowardly statement is nothing but a shameful display of their irredeemable enslavement”
The group further claims In it’s statement that “Nigeria and the Middle Belt are hailing the setting up of the ESN”.
The group however too the opportunity to reiterate that “the ESN is not a Biafra army but a vigilante group established to protect Biafrans against terrorists.”
