Human rights activist and advocate, Harrison Gwamnishu, has publicly responded to allegations leveled against him by social media personality VeryDarkBlackMan (Vincent), accusing the influencer of emotional blackmail, misinformation, and reckless handling of a sensitive security case.
In a strongly worded statement, Gwamnishu disclosed that he reached out privately to VeryDarkBlackMan to apologize, not out of fear or weakness, but in the interest of peace and to avoid further endangering the life of a man reportedly held in the bush. He explained that his decision to apologize stemmed from his long-standing advocacy against brutality and his focus on protecting lives, rather than engaging in social media battles.
Gwamnishu noted that he initially addressed VeryDarkBlackMan as “Boss” out of courtesy, stressing that respecting people regardless of age is part of his personal values. He, however, expressed disappointment that his apology was interpreted as a sign of weakness.
According to him, shortly after the private apology, VeryDarkBlackMan allegedly went ahead to publish a voice note involving a family friend and the victim’s wife, where assistance was being offered, and also began circulating information about the family’s properties on social media. Gwamnishu described these actions as irresponsible and capable of further endangering lives, insisting the case required discretion rather than publicity.
The activist further accused the influencer of failing to properly investigate or consult before making public claims, warning that the quest for online relevance should not override fairness, due process, and safety. He also advised that content creators should seek proper legal guidance before making grave accusations.
In his statement, Gwamnishu issued a direct challenge to VeryDarkBlackMan, demanding that he publicly present evidence linking him to kidnapping, as previously alleged in multiple videos. He condemned claims that he was targeting “big bags” or orchestrating his own kidnapping, describing them as dangerous and defamatory allegations that must be proven.
Gwamnishu also criticized what he described as mockery of both his person and the efforts of military personnel risking their lives to rescue kidnapping victims. He insisted that if the influencer truly has evidence, it should be made public as earlier threatened.
Concluding his statement, Gwamnishu maintained his innocence, stating that there is nothing linking him to the allegations, while wishing VeryDarkBlackMan well in his content creation. He ended with a pointed remark: “He who has fallen fears no fall.”
