Harry Redknapp was rushed to hospital after his BT Sport earpiece got stuck, according to Mirror.co.uk reports.
The former Tottenham manager was working as a guest on the channel on October 5 ahead of Spurs’ Premier League clash with Brighton – with the Seagulls won 3-0.
But during the broadcast, Redknapp found the plastic earpiece he was using couldn’t be dislodged from his ear.
Crew members at the Stratford based BT Sport studio attempted to free the item, even pulling on it with pliers before he was taken to a nearby hospital to have it released medically.
Redknapp, 72, was unhurt by the incident and even returned to continue his punditry later on.
“I came in and they put an earpiece in me and I took it out, but a piece of it broke off and got stuck in my ear,” Redknapp said.
“So I ended up in the local hospital trying to get it out because as the guys were trying to get it out, the deeper they were pushing it in.
According to the Athletic, Redknapp has banned “regular-shaped earpieces” and will now only allow “moulded pieces” to be put into his ear.
It isn’t the first time that Redknapp has found an item stuff in his ear hole.
While on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here last year, which he eventually won, he had a cricket jammed in his ear during a trial.
Medic Bob was called to help the creepy-crawly get free on that occasion.
