He Finally Meets My Father at the Gates of Hell – Kemi Olunloyo Reacts to Buhari’s Death

Controversial Nigerian investigative journalist, Dr. Kemi Olunloyo, has stirred up strong reactions online following her blunt and provocative response to reports of the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari, who allegedly passed away in London at the age of 82, served as both a military Head of State and a democratically elected President of Nigeria. His death has triggered a wave of tributes across the country, but Olunloyo’s reaction took a different tone deeply personal and scathing.

Taking to her Facebook page, Olunloyo expressed no remorse over the former leader’s reported demise. Instead, she wrote that Buhari and her late father, Victor Omololu Olunloyo—a prominent politician and former governor of Oyo State—had finally met “at the Gates of Hell.”

“BREAKING. Finally, Buhari and my father, Olunloyo, meet for the FIRST TIME at the Gates of Hell. Same year, 2025,” she wrote.

Olunloyo criticized Buhari’s role in ending Nigeria’s Second Republic in 1983 and accused him of jailing and allegedly executing journalists during his military regime. She also referenced those she believes were unjustly imprisoned during his tenure, urging that they now be released.

“I hope Ayisha remarries and everyone he locked up is released. Let the journalists he executed during his military reign continue to rest in peace.”

In a controversial twist, she cast doubt on the reported age of the late president, suggesting he may have been older than 82.

“I hope his family can now tell the world he was 89 and not 82. He was 48, the same age as my dad in 1983 when he took over Shagari’s democracy. Only you? He was the leader of Nigeria when I was 19, 51, and 55.”

Olunloyo also made note of the symbolic timing of Buhari’s reported death on Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka’s birthday calling it “a sign of freedom.”
