His Excellency Rt. Hon Davematics David E Ombugadu, the People’s Democratic Party’s gubernatorial flag bearer for Nasarawa State in the last election, in partnership with the National Health Insurance Scheme, has flagged-off the Free NHIS Enrollment for the People of Nasarawa State.
It was indeed an epoch-making event as the people of Akwanga, Wamba and Nasarawa Eggon Federal Constituency converged at the Emergency Theatre Complex Alushi, venue of the official launch of the National Health Insurance Scheme to get themselves enrolled.
In a bid to ensure quality and universal health coverage for not just his constituents, but the state as a whole, Rt. Hon. Davematics David E Ombugadu has today 15th May, 2019, in conjunction with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), launched FREE ENROLLMENT OF BENEFICIARIES INTO THE SCHEME.
The exercise is expected to cover 5000 beneficiaries across the state. In his opening remarks, the Honourable member appreciated the pivotal role played by the Overseeing Director National Health Insurance Scheme, Mr. Ben Omogo for bringing this idea to reality.
In his response, the DG NHIS praised the efforts of Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa of Zamfara state and His Excellency Rt. Hon. Davematics David E Ombugadu of Nasarawa State for their doggedness and persistence in ensuring a speedy response from the government in providing funds for the implementation of the programme. He also congratulated the Honourable member for providing a window of opportunity for his constituents to accessible health care from accredited health care facilities in the country.
It is worthy to note that the scheme has been in existence since the return of democracy in Nigeria but has been operating at the level of individuals. This community based approach is the first of its kind to be experimented in the country, with Nasarawa State as the pilot state and through the ingenuity of our illustrious son, Hon. Davematics David E Ombugadu, we have a total of five thousand beneficiaries out of the twenty six thousand beneficiaries across the country. It is the dream of the Honourable member that every single person in the state have access to good, equitable and affordable health care without going through financial difficulties.
