In recent times there have been frequent news about multiple attacks on policemen at checkpoints. The pattern has always been consistent with the officers always murdered, their guns taken away and their vehicle set on fire. The killings have mostly taken place in the eastern part of the country and the police has been making efforts to ensure that those behind the killings are brought to book. A few hours ago, news came out that about 16 people have been arrested in connection with the killings of security operatives in the country. The Official twitter account of the Nigerian police force started posting confession videos of the suspects a few hours ago and one of them is 31 year old Raphael Idang who is from cross River state.

In the video he confessed that he joined the indeginous people of Biafra(IPOB) on 17th of March 2020. Raphael says that he was recruited as a member of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in November of 2020 and his first operation happened on 24th January 2020 when they were coming down to Orlu. He recalls that they met a police Checkpoint at Orlu – Iyeala road and they engaged the officers there in a gun battle.
Raphael confesses that two police officers were murdered and they made away with 3 AK-47 riffles. According to him, they also set the police Vehicle on fire before leaving the scene of the incidence.
