Afrobeat multi-instrumentalist, Made Kuti, has responded after an X user insulted him for marrying an Igbo woman.
The user had posted his photo with the words: “The face of another f**lish Yoruba man who married a u**less osu Ibo woman. It will never be w*ll for those of you who are mixing Ibo blood with Yoruba bl**d.”
Reacting, Made said he didn’t feel anger, but pity.
According to him, Africa’s greatest leaders always believed in unity and collective growth, not ethnic division.
He wrote:
“Every one of our great African leaders believed in the importance of African unity because they had faith in the potential of our people to rise intellectually above the structures and limits set by colonial regimes and miseducation. They hoped that we would preserve our culture and traditions and treat each other with love and respect, creating a continent that would support our children with love and joy… Running backwards and believing ethnic superiority/inferiority is justifiable is slave mentality.
