Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli has issued a heartfelt apology following an incident involving Liverpool defender Conor Bradley that left the young full-back seriously injured.
In a statement released on Thursday, Martinelli confirmed he had reached out to Bradley privately to express his regret over what happened during the heated encounter between Arsenal and Liverpool.
“Conor and I’ve messaged… I’ve already apologised to him. I really didn’t understand he was seriously injured in the heat of the moment,” Martinelli said.
The Brazilian international added that his reaction was never intended to cause harm, stressing that emotions ran high during the match.
“I want to say I’m deeply sorry for reacting. Sending Conor all my very best again for a quick recovery,” he added.
The incident has sparked concern among Liverpool fans, especially after head coach Arne Slot gave a worrying update on Bradley’s condition. Speaking after the game, Slot admitted the club is bracing for bad news.
“We fear the worst,” the Liverpool boss said, suggesting the injury could be serious and potentially rule the defender out for a prolonged period.
Bradley, who has been impressive this season, was forced off following the clash, with medical staff attending to him on the pitch before he was withdrawn.
Both clubs are now awaiting further medical assessments to determine the full extent of the injury, while messages of support continue to pour in for the Liverpool defender.
