The All Progressives Congress (APC), Imo State chapter has received with rude shock and deep sense of loss the news of the death of Rear Admiral Godwin Ndubuisi Kanu (Rtd.) which occurred on January 13, 2021.
The state caretaker committee chairman of the party, Prince Marcillinus Nlemigbo Esq, who described the death of Admiral Kanu as a huge loss to the people of Abia State, South East in particular and our country Nigeria in general. He recalled that late Kanu as the first military governor of the old Imo State, through his visionary leadership led the foundation of the infrastructural development of both Imo and Abia as well as some parts of Ebonyi states respectively.
Nlemigbo regretted that his demise came at a time our nation was in dire need of his wisdom, knowledge and advice to build a harmonious and just society as well as to guide our younger generation in every aspect of human endeavors, particularly leadership. He however maintained that the leadership legacies of Kanu and his selfless service to humanity would for a long time to come be a fountain of inspiration to the younger generation.
He further urged his immediate and extended families; the people of Abia State, South East and in deed, all Nigerians to bear the loss with fortitude, while praying for the repose of his soul.
