INEC Denies Authenticity of Circulating Letter on PDP Congress, Alleges Forgery

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disowned a document currently circulating across social media and other platforms, which claims the Commission approved the postponement of the Ekiti State PDP Congress and Governorship Primary.

The document, dated November 10, 2025, was purportedly issued and signed by the Secretary to the Commission. However, INEC has firmly dismissed the correspondence as fake.

In an official statement released on Friday, the Commission stated that the purported letter did not emanate from the office of the Secretary nor from any legitimate INEC channel.

Preliminary investigations, according to INEC, reveal that the signature of the Secretary was forged by unidentified individuals, describing the act as an attempt to mislead the public and disrupt the electoral process.

The general public, political parties and the media are strongly advised to disregard the contents of the said correspondence in its entirety, as it is fake,” the statement read.

INEC condemned the forgery as a serious electoral offence, warning perpetrators and anyone circulating the document to desist immediately in the interest of electoral integrity and national stability.

The Commission also confirmed that it is working closely with security agencies to track down those responsible and ensure they face prosecution in accordance with the law.

The statement was signed by Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, Director of Voter Education and Publicity.
