The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced that the 2025 bye-elections will take place on Saturday, August 16, 2025, across sixteen (16) constituencies spread over twelve (12) states of the federation.
According to a public notice issued by INEC, the elections will cover federal constituencies, state constituencies, and senatorial districts that have become vacant due to various reasons. The elections are scheduled to commence at 8:30 AM in all designated polling units within the affected constituencies.
INEC reiterated that only registered voters whose names appear on the official voters’ register and who possess a valid Permanent Voter Card (PVC) will be allowed to vote. The commission emphasized its strict enforcement of the “No PVC, No Voting” policy.
Furthermore, the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be deployed for voter accreditation to enhance transparency and credibility in the electoral process.
The commission urged the public to adhere to the electoral guidelines and participate peacefully, reminding citizens of its commitment to making every vote count and strengthening Nigeria’s democratic journey.
